MEET THE TEAM:
Tim Cook (Founder & Executive Director)
After graduating as an actor from RADA, Tim founded Broken Silence Theatre in his hometown of Brighton. He has since been involved in new writing groups at the Royal Court Theatre, RADA and New Writing South, and was Literary Manager of the Drayton Arms Theatre. He is a multi-award-winning theatre producer, director and published playwright.
Sophie Drake (Resident Director)
Sophie trained at the University of Leeds and under Michael Grandage on his West End production of Red. She is Resident Director for Broken Silence Theatre, where she is a Hive Leader for the Playwright's Hive and directs work the company produces. She has worked as a freelance director for Guildhall School of Music & Drama and as a script reader and dramaturg for Paines Plough, Guildhall School of Music & Drama and with James Grieve. Ella Dorman-Gajic (Creative Associate)
Ella is a spoken word poet, writer and actor from Brighton. She joined Broken Silence Theatre as the company's first ever Writer in Residence, before becoming Creative Associate. Ella is currently developing a number of projects with us, following the success of her short play Trust, which premiered as part of Voices From Home (Volume 1) at the Old Red Lion Theatre & The Tory Who, which featured as part of Voices From Home (Volume 5) at the Arcola Theatre.
Paul Macauley (Playwrights Hive Facilitator)
Paul is a director and award-winning playwright from Brighton. He has an interest in supporting creative practice and personal development in writers and other artists. Currently he is developing a piece of autobiographical theatre and writing his first novel.
